Lubbock is Texas Tech’s home town and the largest city on the South Plains — dry-heat summers, real winters, and cotton-country wide-open sky. The Frenchie community here is smaller but tight, and the dry climate is actually kinder to a Frenchie’s airway than the humid Gulf coast.
Lubbock’s dry heat is easier on a Frenchie’s breathing than the coastal humidity down state, and the city’s Tech-driven family demographic tends to raise dogs well. Winters are the real training season here — unlike most of Texas, Lubbock actually gets sub-freezing weeks, and a Frenchie fleece isn’t decorative.
University-adjacent; walkable; young families.
Established Lubbock; shaded streets.
The dry air is actually kinder to a Frenchie's airway than the Gulf-coast alternative, but temperature swings are dramatic. A 90°F afternoon can drop to 50°F overnight. Wind and dust irritate fold-and-eye tissue.
Dry heat is more forgiving than humid, but pavement is dangerous. Grass or shade only, dawn/dusk walks under 15 minutes.
Prime outdoor time. 20–30 minutes twice daily. Watch for windy dust days that irritate eyes and folds.
