Why We Built IHeartFrenchies
We started IHeartFrenchies in Texas because we were tired of watching families get their hearts broken—and we were tired of watching responsible breeders get lost in the noise.
If you've ever searched for a French Bulldog puppy online, you know exactly what we're talking about. The scam listings with stolen photos. The backyard breeders who can't answer basic health questions. The puppy mills hiding behind Facebook pages and polished websites. And somewhere in all that mess, the ethical breeders doing everything right but struggling to reach the families who actually care about health, transparency, and doing this the right way.
We built this platform because the marketplace was broken. Families deserved better. Breeders deserved better. And Frenchies—especially Frenchies, with all their unique health considerations—deserved a hell of a lot better.
The Problem We Saw (and Lived)
Both of us have been in the French Bulldog community for years. We've seen the Facebook horror stories. We've talked to families who paid thousands of dollars for puppies that arrived sick, underage, or not even the breed they thought they were buying. We've watched breeders who health-test every dog, who socialize puppies from day one, who answer calls at midnight when a family is worried—get undercut by someone selling puppies out of a garage with no vet records and a Ring doorbell video as "proof."
The platforms that existed weren't solving the problem. Generic puppy sites listed anyone who'd pay the fee. Social media was a free-for-all. And the good breeders? They were relying on word-of-mouth and outdated websites because there was nowhere else that actually aligned with their standards.
We knew we couldn't fix the entire pet industry overnight. But we could start with the breed we knew. We could build something in Texas, prove it worked, and grow it the right way.
What Makes Us Different
IHeartFrenchies isn't just a listing board. It's a community-first platform with standards baked into every layer.
When a breeder joins us, they don't just upload photos and wait for inquiries. They go through a tiered verification system that families can actually understand. We have six breeder tiers—New, Trusted, Verified, Health Certified, Elite, and Hall of Fame—and each one represents real, documented proof of ethical practices.
A New breeder might be just starting their journey. A Health Certified breeder is providing OFA cardiac clearances, patella evaluations, CERF eye exams, BOAS screening, and full DNA color panels on their breeding dogs. An Elite breeder has years of references, proven puppy outcomes, and a track record families can verify. Hall of Fame breeders are the mentors, the ones setting the standard for everyone else.
We don't just take a breeder's word for it. We verify. We ask for documentation. We follow up. And yes, we turn people away.
Because this isn't about maximizing listings. It's about building trust.
Texas Roots, National Vision
We launched in Texas because it's home. Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio—these cities have huge Frenchie communities and even bigger problems with unethical breeding. We wanted to start where we could make the biggest impact and learn the fastest.
Our next step is expansion into Oklahoma and New Mexico. These states share similar challenges and tight-knit breeder communities. We're not interested in scaling faster than we can maintain quality. We'd rather do ten states the right way than forty-eight states poorly.
But make no mistake—our goal is all forty-eight continental states. We want a family in Oregon and a family in Florida to have the same access to transparent, verified breeders. We want a new breeder in Michigan to have a roadmap for becoming Elite. We want this to be the place the entire Frenchie community turns to first.
The Promise We Make
To families: We promise you won't have to guess. You won't have to decode vague health claims or wonder if those puppy photos are even real. Every breeder on our platform is working toward or already meeting standards that protect you and your future dog. You'll know what health testing has been done. You'll see breeder tiers that mean something. You'll have access to a community that actually cares whether your puppy thrives at eight weeks, eight months, and eight years.
To breeders: We promise you won't be lumped in with puppy mills and backyard breeders. Your work—the health testing, the socialization, the 2 a.m. whelping watches, the families you stay in touch with for years—will be seen and valued. You'll be part of a platform that elevates your standards instead of asking you to lower them. And you'll connect with families who understand why you do what you do.
Moving Forward Together
We're not perfect. We're learning as we go, listening to feedback, and adjusting when we get things wrong. But we're here for the right reasons, and we're not going anywhere.
This is just the beginning. We're building something that lasts—for the families, for the breeders, and most of all, for the Frenchies who deserve a better start to their lives.
