Size
Males average 22–28 lbs adult. Females average 18–24 lbs. The variance within a sex is often larger than the average difference between them.
Temperament (general trends)
Males tend to be goofier, more affectionate, and slightly more attention-seeking. Females tend to be more independent, more subtle emotionally, and quicker to establish social hierarchy. Every dog is an individual, so ask the breeder about the specific puppy’s personality.
Trainability
Both are highly trainable. Females often mature earlier; males often stay puppy-like longer.
Heat cycles vs marking
Females go into heat every 6–8 months (until spayed). Males may mark territory until neutered. Both behaviors are managed by responsible spaying/neutering per vet timing recommendations.
Cost
Female Frenchies typically cost $200–$500 more than males in Texas due to breeding demand. This is a preference tax, not a quality difference.
