If the buyer can no longer keep the puppy at any point, the breeder takes it back — no drama, no shelter.

Spay/neuter requirements
Timing (typically after 12 months for males, after first heat for females — per current AKC and reputable veterinary guidance).
Breeding restrictions
Most pet-price contracts prohibit resale for breeding. Full-breeding rights cost significantly more.
Vet visit requirement
Buyer’s own vet within 72 hours of pickup.
Non-disclosure or non-disparagement clauses
Reasonable "no defamation" clauses are fine. Broad "you can never publicly say anything negative" clauses are a red flag.
