DNA panel (both parents)
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Hereditary Cataracts (HC-HSF4), Juvenile Hereditary Cataracts (JHC), Cystinuria Type III, PRA-crd4, MDR1, Von Willebrand Disease Type 1, full color and coat panel (fluffy, merle, tan points, chocolate, cocoa, isabella, brindle).
Orthopedic (both parents)
OFA or PennHIP hip radiographs. OFA patella grade. Elbow evaluation optional but appreciated.
Cardiac (both parents)
Annual auscultation minimum. Echocardiogram by a cardiologist preferred, especially for breeding dams over 3 years old.
Eye exam (both parents)
CAER exam by a certified veterinary ophthalmologist within the last 12 months.
BOAS screening
Ask what breeding decisions the program makes for open nostrils, wider tracheas, and moderate palate length. A responsible breeder can articulate this in one paragraph.
Puppy-level records
Deworming schedule (every two weeks 2–8 weeks), age-appropriate vaccinations, current wellness exam, microchip registration, AKC or CKC paperwork.
