01 · Blue Fawn

Blue Fawn

A dilute fawn with a soft blue-grey wash — the shade of the moment.

Blue Fawn combines the fawn base coat (ay locus) with the recessive dilute gene (dd). The result is a warm fawn body with cool, powdery blue-grey wash on the mask, ears, and tail. Nose leather is blue-grey rather than black. Blue Fawn is one of the most in-demand dilutes today — never trust a listing without a 5-locus panel confirming both parents carry dilute.

02 · Lilac & Tan

Lilac & Tan

Cool grey-lilac with warm tan points on eyebrows, chest, and legs.

Lilac & Tan combines the double-dilute Lilac base with the recessive tan-point pattern (a^t). You get a cool-toned lilac body with warm tan markings above the eyes, on the muzzle, chest, and legs. Both parents must carry the tan-point gene for it to appear in the litter — always ask for the K locus + A locus test.

03 · Lilac

Lilac

A soft grey-purple base — the cornerstone of the diluted spectrum.

Lilac Frenchies carry both the dilute (dd) and brown (bb) recessives — producing a soft grey-purple coat with pale nose leather and often light eyes. Lilac is the parent color to Isabella, Lilac Fawn, and Lilac Merle. Always ensure sire and dam are both tested carriers before pairing — non-tested "lilac" listings are frequent scam vectors.

04 · New Shade

New Shade

A fresh, warm-toned dilute — the color reveals more as coats mature.

New Shade is the community name for the emerging warm-tone dilute — a color that develops depth and shade variation as the puppy grows. Often confused with light Lilac or dilute Fawn. Coat testing at 8 weeks with a licensed genetics lab (Embark, UC Davis, or Animal Genetics) is the only way to confirm.

05 · Fawn

Fawn

The classic warm-tan — arguably the original Frenchie color.

Fawn is the dominant original French Bulldog color — a warm tan coat ranging from cream to deep red-fawn. Standard-quality Fawns often show a black mask around the muzzle. Because Fawn is dominant, it appears more consistently in litters and is the base for many exotic dilutes (Lilac Fawn, Isabella Fawn, etc.).

06 · Platinum

Platinum

The palest of the pale — near-white with faint dilute undertones.

Platinum Frenchies combine the recessive dilute (dd) with the recessive red (ee) — producing an almost-white, cream-platinum coat with pale skin and often light eyes. The rarest of the pale colors, Platinum is often mistaken for Cream or extreme-light Fawn. Full 5-locus testing distinguishes them definitively.

07 · Merle

Shade 07

Merle

A patterned coat — dark spots on a diluted base. Never merle-to-merle.

Merle is a pattern, not a color — patches of dark pigment scattered across a diluted base coat. It can appear on any base (Blue Merle, Lilac Merle, Chocolate Merle, etc.). Critical rule: never breed two merle-carrying parents — double-merle (M/M) results in deafness, blindness, and severe health issues. Every merle listing must include the M locus test.

08 · Coco

Shade 08

Coco

A rich, deep chocolate — warm brown with matching nose leather.

Coco (also called Chocolate or Testable Chocolate) is a solid, saturated brown produced by the recessive b locus. Nose leather is liver-brown, eyes are often amber or hazel. Coco is the non-dilute cousin of Lilac — the difference is Coco keeps the black-to-brown gene without the dilute wash. A responsible breeder verifies bb via DNA panel every time.
